2005 SUPER STOCK RULES

Note: Body must remain stock. No aftermarket light weight bodies.  No fabricated stub cars allowed.   Any attempt to circumvent the sprit of this rule will not be allowed.

ROLL CAGE -.  Four-post roll cage must be used, front and rear hoop welded to the OEM frame. Rear kickers minimum 1.5-inch tubing. Must use .095 -inch tubing, at least 1.5-inch diameter for cages and door bars. Roll cage must be cross braced. Minimum of three horizontal door bars on drivers side is mandatory. Minimum of four uprights tied from frame to top door bar on driver side. Three door bars in passenger side highly recommended. May have two bars for protection in front of radiator, behind bumper, within confines of body, no wider than stock frame horns. May tie front horns together. All bars, front and rear, must be inside body. Must have minimum of one cross bar in top of halo of roll cage.

FRAME - Frame must be complete from front of stub to rear kick up.  Minimum wheelbase 106-inches both sides - no more than one inch difference from side to side. Stub type cars (i.e. camaro, firebird) must have front and rear stub tied together at floorboard.  May fabricate rear stub, but must use original type suspension in OEM position.  Frame, and motor must be same manufacturer, (for example, GM frame with GM motor). Ford unibodies may be replaced with Ford full frames. (NOTE: may be shortened to 106-inch minimum).  Number one sparkplug must be in line or ahead of upper ball joints. Frames may be 'X' braced.  Weights must be securely mounted to frame or roll cage, must be painted white and have the car number on it, and be attached with at least two half-inch bolts.

BODY - Any 1965 or newer U.S. manufactured full or mid size rear wheel drive passenger car body. Body must be mounted in stock position, no set back. No overlapping or shortening of body panels. Steel rub rails no bigger than one inch by two inches may be attached to body from fender well to fender well and rear quarter panel, flush with body. All windows in body must remain open. Must have a minimum of three windshield bars in front of driver. Maximum seven-inch metal sun visor may be added to top of windshield opening, only. Stock appearing plastic nose pieces may be used.  All holes in front and rear firewalls are to be covered with metal.  Full floorboard or aluminum interior allowed.  Floor in trunk area may be removed behind rear firewall.   Hoods may be gutted, but not shortened. Back of hood must be sealed off from driver compartment, using metal, not plastic materials. All glass removed, no mirrors allowed.

BUMPERS - All bumpers must be approved OEM with no sharp edges. All bumper mounts must be steel. Bumpers not covered must have rounded ends that are connected to the body or frame.

SUSPENSION AND STEERING - Steering must be stock for the car. Weight jacks allowed. No devices allowed that would enable driver adjustment to alter wheelbase or weight jacking while car is in competition. Aftermarket upper a-frames allowed. Stock passenger car spindles only; no fabricated spindles. Bottom A-frames cannot be altered or moved. Lower A-frames must match frame. No aluminum suspension parts allowed. Rear suspension must match frame. Lower trailing arms or leaf springs must mount in original position. Lower trailing arms may be OEM or tube and heim joint.  If tube and heim joint are used they must me a minimum of 16" from center to center of heim joints. May add top link and/or panhard bar.  No birdcages or sliders allowed.

REAR END - Any approved OEM passenger car type rear end permitted. Floaters permitted.  No aluminum allowed, except lowering blocks, axle cap, and drive flange. Full steel spool, steel mini spool or welded rearends only. Steel axles only.  No quick change devices allowed. No cambered rear ends, one piece drive flange only. No electronic or mechanical traction control devices allowed.

SHOCKS - One per wheel. Racing shocks permitted. No sliding shock mounts. No coil over or coil over eliminators allowed.

BRAKES - Must lock up all four wheels on inspection. Rear disk allowed. No floating brakes. No brake shut-off or pressure sensitive devices allowed. Proportioning valve allowed, front to rear only. No aluminum or aftermarket calipers.

TRANSMISSIONS - Must have at least one gear forward and one reverse, plus a neutral position. With motor running and car in a still position, driver must be able to engage car in gear and move forward, then backward. Only OEM production type transmissions will be allowed - three speed, four speed and automatic. No five speed transmissions, 'in and out' boxes, or quick change devices allowed.
(A) All manual gear-type transmissions must have a standard OEM case and must have a working clutch inside the bellhousing.  Aluminum flywheel allowed. Minimum diameter of clutch 5 1/2".  Steel bellhousing recommended. 
(B) Automatic transmissions must remain in OEM stock
appearing automatic case. Original bellhousing must remain. Must have an approved scatter shield or blanket. Scatter shield may be constructed of .25-inch by three-inch steel, 270 degrees around flexplate or flywheel.

ELECTRONICS - No transmitting or listening devices allowed in car. No electronic monitoring computer devices capable of storing or transmitting information except tach allowed on cars. No digital gauges allowed on car. No electronic traction control devices allowed. No adjustable ignition control boxes allowed. Only one ignition box allowed on car.

EXHAUST - Headers allowed. Must direct exhaust away from drivers compartment. Mufflers optional.

FUEL - Racing fuel cell required, no boat or stock automotive fuel tanks. Must be securely fastened inside trunk of car, and be mounted by at least two 1/8-inch solid steel straps, two inches wide around cell, above level of stock trunk floor. Fuel cell must be in steel container. Fire wall must be between driver and fuel cell. All cell mounts must be steel, attached to frame/cage. No adjustable fuel cell mounts. Check valve recommended. Fuel lines through driver compartment must be in metal pipe or metal conduit. No fuel filters in driver compartment. Gas only. No alcohol; no performance-enhancing additives.

BATTERY - One 12-volt battery only, securely mounted in a metal frame in the trunk area.

CARBURETOR - One 2 or 4 bbl. carburetor only.

TIRES - Hoosier spec D-55. Siping or grooving of tires allowed

WHEELS - Steel wheels only.  10" maximum width. Bead lock allowed on right rear only

NUMBERS - All cars must be numbered with large, legible numbers on both sides, top and rear panel. Numbers must be in contrasting color from body, in all light conditions. Numbers on side of car to be at least 4 inches thick and 20 inches high. Numbers on top must be at least 4 inches thick and 30 inches high.

ENGINE - Must be stock appearing. All engines used in competition must be able to be used in conventional passenger car without alteration. Motor mounts cannot be removed or altered on engine block. Castings and fittings must not be changed. No machine work on outside engine or on front or rear of camshaft.. Starter must bolt in stock location. No limit on engine cubes, but must run GM with GM frame, Ford with Ford frame, etc. All cars must have the capability of starting without being pushed or pulled.   No aluminum heads or blocks. Aluminum intake allowed.. No electric or belt driven fuel pumps. One radiator only, must be mounted in front of engine. Any overflow tubes must be directed to the ground, between frame rails.

WEIGHT -  Car must weigh at least 3000 lbs with driver after race.

Decisions of Dallas County Speedway officials are final and binding without exception.  Any rule revisions or clarifications during the course of the year will be posted at the Dallas County Speedway pit gate and will be considered as an official part of these rules.
